In these days it is important to have Multiple levels of security on your systems because just a password is easy to obtain. Make your TrueNAS system security with MFA!
Log into your TrueNAS and head over to “Credentials” and select “2FA“
Once there fill in the options with the number of digits, the interval and the overlap window.
Once the options are selected, prepare your mobile device and open your Authenticator application,
I use the Microsoft Authenticator. Select the option to add a new auth.
Once ready, In TrueNAS select the option to “Enable Two-Factor Authentication” and you will be presented with a QR Code to scan with your mobile device and your authenticator device.
Once scanned you will have the “IXSystems” 2FA added to the Authenticator App.
You can now go ahead and log out the the TrueNAS and be greeted with the new login screen that has the new text field to enter your 2FA code.
Use your Credentials and load the new One time Passcode from your Authenticator App to log in!
